Brandon concentrates his practice in commercial and real estate litigation in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.  Brandon represents financial institutions in enforcement of their rights as secured and unsecured creditors, and in defense of lender liability claims and commercial suits brought by depositors and third parties.  He represents title insurers and their insureds in title, easement, forgery and coverage disputes, and handles mechanics lien cases and landlord-tenant disputes.  Brandon also represents closely held businesses, tax exempt organizations and individuals in breach of contract, business tort, restrictive covenant and other general commercial matters.  Prior to joining RFBN, Brandon served as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted felony cases in the trial courts, including a murder case that resulted in a guilty verdict, and also handled appeals.

Defended private school at trial when court denied plaintiffs’ request for injunctive relief to prevent construction of school building based on alleged violation of an easement.  Represented school on appeal when the First District of the Illinois Appellate court affirmed the trial court’s decision.

Defended property owner in ejection action at trial resulting in finding in favor of client.

Represented bank in the First District of the Illinois Appellate Court when it dismissed borrowers’ appeal in mortgage foreclosure action contesting service of process in multi-million dollar suit.

Defended bank that prevailed before the trial court and the First District of the Illinois Appellate Court in suit alleging bank unlawfully processed small estate affidavit under Probate Act.

Obtained a summary judgment on behalf of corporate officer finding restrictive covenant in purchase and sale agreement unenforceable.

Secured a favorable settlement on behalf of tax exempt organization against university foundation alleging breach of charitable gift agreement.
